Situated on the outskirts of Wollaston village The Woodlands Retirement Residence offers a warm welcoming and family atmosphere. We have a team of trained and dedicated staff that bring compassion and experience to every aspect of their work, providing high quality, professional, person centred care. We put our residents at the heart of everything we do with constant care and attention, support and companionship whilst catering for their every need and personal tastes. Our Services
Every day at The Woodlands is tailored for you, whether it is relaxing in either of the two generous lounges or private gardens, taking part in a wide range of activities, enjoying the home cooked food in the conservatory or spending time with family and friends, The Woodlands has it all. The Woodlands Retirement Residence offers the best senior living in the area.
We ensure your life at The Woodlands is as rewarding and comfortable as possible. Your friends and family are welcome to visit you at any time of day and enjoy the private grounds. You will also make new friends with the other residents and enjoy sharing your interests and life experiences together in the comfort of your new home.
Person Centred Care
Our trained and dedicated team is on hand 24 hours a day to help you. When you first arrive at The Woodlands an individual care plan will be prepared, tailored to your individual needs. We work closely with our local GP surgeries and their District Nurses to ensure the highest level of medical care and attention for our residents. We also have a comprehensive range of visiting specialists from other practitioners such as chiropodists, dentists, opticians and the hairdresser.
The Woodlands is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and works within the Gold Standard Framework to provide excellent end of life care.
The Care Staff
We are committed to the training and development of our staff, which enhances the quality of life of our residents. All staff have an enhanced CRB/DBS check and receive a comprehensive induction. All complete mandatory training and either hold or are working towards their NVQ level 2 and/or 3 in Health and Social Care. Each member of staff is fully supervised and has an individual learning and development plan, which ensures they are fully competent to deliver the highest standard of care in a professional manner.
Accommodation
Towards the evening at The Woodlands you can retire to your private, individually designed room. The bedrooms provide all the day-to-day essentials along with individual television point. All of the upstairs rooms are served by a lift and stair lift and some of them have glorious views across the gardens. Most of the ground floor rooms have views across the grounds to the front and rear.
The emphasis at The Woodlands is ensuring that you have control over your environment in a way that allows you to feel at home, whether it is re-arranging the furniture the way that you want it or bringing your own.
All rooms have the added reassurance and security of a 24 hour call alarm.
Our staff are always on hand to help you with what you want to achieve.
Nutritional and Diet
Using premium, locally sourced fresh produce, our chef prepares meals that are specifically tailored to your tastes and individual dietary and nutritional needs, with the emphasis on traditional home cooking.
Start your day with a choice of Continental or English breakfast. Later on, after your mid morning refreshments, you can indulge in a selection from the lunch menu. Afternoon tea and cakes are served daily.
Activities
The Woodlands range of optional activities and entertainment means that you can stimulate your mind each and every day, keeping you active and amused. Everything from armchair exercises to vocalists and piano recitals. Parties to celebrate special events and birthdays are also hosted. You have the option to be as involved in our fun and engaging activities as little or as much as you like.
Both lounges have televisions with viewing to suit all residents. There is also a selection of DVD’s and CD’s available to help you enjoy your relaxing times.
The Woodlands also include amongst our many visitors the local clergy from all denominations.
Throughout the year, we provide our residents with activities to make sure there’s always something exciting to look forward to. It’s just one of the things that sets our Care Home apart from the rest. We’re passionate about providing opportunities for our residents to make new memories and friends while enjoying our services.
The Gardens
Our gardens are lovingly looked after throughout the year with borders changed seasonally. The grounds provide a peaceful and private environment that you can enjoy and a chance for enjoyment with the other residents and your family or friends when they come to visit.

The Woodlands philosophy of care is to offer the highest standards of holistic care to each resident based on an initial assessment and a regularly updated plan of person centered care; to encourage independence and individuality whilst maintaining privacy and dignity. Individualised care is delivered within a secure, relaxed, homely and conducive environment, where a resident’s physical and psychological care, wellbeing and comfort are of prime importance to both staff and management.
We liaise closely with family and friends, encouraging open two way communication at all times so as to ensure good relationships.
